TREASURE HUNT
Finding Your Treasure
God’s GPS System – Part 3
Jesus Christ

Matthew 5:19 “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

Last month, we talked about finding our treasure by using God’s Global Positioning System (GPS). As a review, God’s GPS system consist of  His Son, His Word, His Spirit, and His presence to help us to reach our purpose.  But in light of everything that is happening in today’s society with housing foreclosures, rising gas prices, and empty food banks, you may be asking the questions:  “How can I even think about reaching my purpose when I lost my job?”  “How am I supposed to find my treasure, if I don’t have enough money to buy gas?

In Luke the 5th chapter, you will find four fishermen who faced the same dilemma. Each and every day, they would go out in their boats hoping, wishing, and praying that they would catch enough fish to feed their families.  You see, their lives--their survival-- depended upon the number of fish that they caught each day.  Well, this particular day, they didn’t catch anything.  They sat by the seashore tired, upset, hopeless, frustrated, and wondering how they were going to put food on the table.  In fact, in Luke 5:5, you can hear the frustration in Simon’s voice when he said “Master, we have toiled (worked hard) all night and caught nothing.

But the words, “follow me”, uttered by a man named Jesus, changed their lives.  You see, Jesus understood their frustration.  He understood that they were weighed down with the burdens of society.  What he also understood was that they were trying to accomplish their journey on their own.  But Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 says “Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”  When those four men heard Jesus, they gave up everything.  When they gave up focusing on their circumstances; when they gave up worrying and being anxious about tomorrow; and when they decided to follow Jesus, they began to walk out of their dead situations and began to walk into their calling.

Jesus is whispering those same words to you.  He is saying “Follow me, and I will make you…..” (Matthew 4:19). To make means to come into being; to become.  In order to become who God has called you to be, in order to come into what God has for you, you must first forsake all and follow Jesus.  John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father (or what the Father has for us) except through me.”  But let us remember that we must not only follow Jesus, we must have a personal, intimate relationship with him.  John 15:5 says “I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides (lives) in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me, you can do nothing.”  Challenge thought:  Do you have a personal, intimate relationship with Christ? Talk to ya next time!  Love ya!

Our Mission

De Novo means anew. It was taken from the Scriptures:

2 Corinthians 5:17,
“If any man (woman) be in Christ he/she is a new creature, old things are passed away. Behold all things become new..” and Isaiah 43:19a, “Behold, I will do a new thing...”
therefore, De Novo Ministries means “A New Ministry”.

Our Mission Statement:

De Novo Ministries' mission is to redirect people to a closer, more intimate relationship with God.

We consider ourselves a "Church without Walls", whereby we go "into every city and place.." (Luke 10:1) to preach, teach, and declare the message that God has given us
