TREASURE HUNT Finding Your Treasure God’s GPS System Part 2
“The Lord is my Shepherd.” Psalm 23:1
We have now begun our initial trek to finding our buried treasure. But before we begin, remember that one of the most important items needed to help locate your buried treasure is a map—or in today’s terminology, a GPS system. Let’s review, a GPS System, developed by the automotive industry, is a system used to help you to reach your destination.
So what is God’s GPS System? To answer this question, let’s us define some terms. System means method and destination means purpose. Therefore, God’s GPS system is a method used to help you to get to your purpose.
As you look through the scriptures, you will find that God used many methods to guide His children to their purpose. In the Book of Exodus, when Moses was leading the children of Israel out of Egypt to a new place, God provided them with a personal compass. Exodus 13:21-22 (Amp) “The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.” This pillar marked the presence of God. God gave himself to protect and guide his children along the route as they took their journey through the wilderness to their destination.
In Matthew the 2nd Chapter, the three kings were on a quest to find the gift that God had given to the world. So God provided them with their own OnStar System. God put a star in the sky, and that star led, guided and directed the kings right to their gift, and that gift was the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 2:9 “….behold the star which they had seen in the East went before them till it came and stood over where the young child was.”
But what has God provided for us today that will help lead us to our destination? He may not have given us a pillar of fire or a star in the sky, but He has given us His Son, His Word, His Presence, and His Spirit. God understands that we sometimes get lost and need help in finding our way as we travel this journey through life. I Peter 2:25 says “For you were like sheep going astray,” but Psalms 23:1 “The Lord is my Shepherd.” A shepherd guides and leads his sheep to greener pasture; but a shepherd is also known as an escort. So you can read this scripture as saying the Lord is my Escort. God wants us to reach our destiny so bad that He said that He will escort us. Isn’t that wonderful? Over the next few months, we will discuss how God’s Son, God’s Word, God’s Presence and God’s Spirit, escorts us to our destiny. In the meantime, here is your challenge thought: In John 10, what is Jesus known as? Love ya!
