Finding Your Treasure
God’s GPS System
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth…” John 16:13 (NKJV).
If you can remember from the old pirate movies, one of the most important items needed in their quest to find the buried treasure was the treasure map. The treasure map was most often hand-drawn and contained clues for the pirates to follow that will lead them to the location of the buried treasure. If those pirates lived today, that hand-drawn treasure map would be replaced with the Global Positioning System, or GPS, as it is most commonly known. Those pirates would be able to choose from The TomTom One, the Zoombak, and the Magellan Maestro to help them to find their buried treasure. Now, you might be asking, “What is a GPS System?” A GPS System is a navigational system that is placed inside of your car that determines your location, your speed, your direction, and the time you reach your destination. In other words, it is the modern day map or compass. It is an internal guide that takes you to your destination.
For the last couple of months, we have been on a treasure hunt to find the gifts, talents and desires that God has placed on the inside of each and every one of us. But, if you are like me, you are probably wondering, “How do I find my gift? Do I even have a gift? Where do I begin to look for my gift? Let me say, that if you ever want to know how something operates, you must go back to the manufacturer. Our manufacturer is our Heavenly Father. He is the one who created us, and if we have any questions about ourselves, we must go to Him. Psalms 139:13(NIV) says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. This means that while you were still in your mother’s womb, God placed a unique gift inside of you. In fact, He predestined you for your calling. Romans 8:29-30 says “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son… Moreover, whom he predestined, these He also called…”
So if your gift is a mystery to you, Ephesians 1:9 says “And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ.” God wants you to find your gift. All you have to do is ask Him. Psalms 27:11 says, “Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a smooth path…” God has provided for us His own, personal GPS system. God’s system, just like the natural system, will determine your location, your speed, your direction, as well as the time your reach your destination.
