TREASURE HUNT Come Forth- Part III The Excavation
The excavation has begun! We have started to “uncover” the treasures that lie within us. Last month, we began reading about one of the most powerful excavations in the Bible, the raising of Lazarus (John 11:38-44). As we walked through this scripture, we began to find some very valuable instructions that we can use to “dig out” the gifts that God has placed on the inside of us. They are as follows: 1. Remove all things that hinder you from reaching your goals. 2. Don’t give up, even if people have given up on you; and 3. Believe that you can do it. Let’s continue. John 11:43 says “Now when He (Jesus) had said these things, He cried with a loud voice…”
4 - Hear and follow the voice of God –As you continue moving toward your gifting, you will hear many different types of voices—Satan, telling you can’t do it; and other people telling you how to do it. But make sure that you hear and follow the voice of God. But in order to follow his voice, you must recognize His voice. John 10:3-4 says “….and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out….and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.” This week, someone asked me the question, “How do you know when you hear God?” As I mentioned many times before, seek to have a personal, intimate relationship with God. Get into his presence, read his word, pray without ceasing on a daily basis, and allow the Holy Spirit to dwell on the inside of you. He is your interpreter. John 16:13 (AMP) says that “…He will tell whatever He hears (from the Father…), and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come…” Remember that God has “called you with a Holy calling.” (2 Timothy 1:9). Therefore, today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts…” (Hebrews 3:15)
5.Start walking in your calling- John 11:43-44 says “Lazarus, come forth! “And he who had died came out…” When Lazarus heard the call of God, he followed the call and came out of the tomb. He came out of seclusion. He came out from that dark, dead place in his life, and started walking into what God has called him to be. Ephesians 4:1 (AMP) says,” I, therefore….beg you to walk (lead a life) worthy of the (divine) calling to which you have been called…” “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord” (Hebrew 12:1.) Therefore, “Let your lights (gifts) so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
6. Remember that you can’t take the past with you. John 11:44 says “The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped in strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” Many of us have a tendency to walk through life looking back, regretting, and allowing our past to dictate our future, but “Jesus said to him, no one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back (to the things behind) is fit for the kingdom of God. (Luke 9:62)”. Therefore, as you start to walk into your calling “…. throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and… run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrew 12:1 NIV). Instead of looking back, let us look up, and “…fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith”. Talk to you next time! Luv ya! Pam Robinson
